For years, I’ve avoided granulated sugar if possible.
Granulated sugar contains neither vitamins nor minerals, only empty calories. The consequence of this is that the blood sugar level suddenly jumps very high, which is not good for our body. After a while, the body can hardly tolerate these blood sugar fluctuations, and all kinds of diseases can develop. Not to mention weight gain.
Therefore, when I started experimenting with vegan desserts, I looked for the most suitable sugar substitute. It was an important aspect that my sweets were delicious, primarily for me, because I started for myself, but it was also very important that my family, who are not vegans but have a sweet tooth, would also be able to eat them.
Therefore, it was a crucial aspect to find the sweetener that gives these effects, and all this in a way that not only gives a delicious taste, but is also the healthiest for our body.
That’s when I ran into a website where the lady sweetened all the food with dates. I thought if it was delicious in food, I could try it in cakes. Since I love dates and know how sweet they are, I thought it would be fitting for desserts. And so it happened! Together with the family, we enthusiastically consumed my first experiments.
